  • 7. November 2009: That’s why I love the Jazzmaster

Just have a look at this live-performance of D.A.D at Roskilde and listen to the distinctive JM sound Sleeping my day away @ Roskilde :-)

  • 30. March 2009: Jazzmaster in German Music Mag “Visions”

The printed April issue of German Musicmag “Visions” features a supplement for guitarists – and among them Gibsons and mainstream-Fenders there’s a page for the Jazzmaster, the J.Mascis signature, to be precise.

Recently a special webpage has been launched and on the 12th September 2008 a special concert will be held in New York’s Knitting Factory, with Tom Verlaine, Nels Cline, Thurston Moore, J. Mascis and special guests!

  • 26. June 2008: Soundsamples bug

There seems to be a problem with the Soundsamples of vintage and reissue Jaguar and Jazzmasters Files. Under certain browser/system circumstances no sound will be played and only “buffering” is displayed in the flash-player. For those with these problems I have added the url to the sound-files below each player. Cudos to “Elm” and thanks for the report.

  • 21. June 2008: New Gallery added

I couldn’t resist and recently got me this beauty. I always lusted after a Candy Apple Red, matching headstock Jaguar – preferably a pre-CBS one, hahah. Well, close enough for Rock’n'Roll. :-)

Hi, and thanks for a great site. I have just bought me a Fender Jaguar (May ยด62) in EX++++ condition. 100% original, and I even found the original flatwound strings in the case. A great and versitile guitar.

    Hi

I have a question: I just bought a MIJ Jaguar, ‘66 re-issue with big block and binding on the neck, candy apple red without matching headstock.

There seem to be a few of them about now, all the retailers say that they are for Japanese market only, but 50 have been exported to Europe in 2009.
I’m perplexed about the date it was made because the serial no. begins with a T and its MIJ which would suggest that its 94-95 as the Fender list says.
But the common understanding is that they are more recent than that. You have a ‘66 re-issue in your Gallery under 2003, but its a candy apple red with matching headstock.
    Just wondered.
I also have a CIJ Jag from 2005, and there seems to be a real difference in quality; the ‘66 is far better.

Just wondered if you have any idea?

    Thanks for the great site.

I bought a “made in japan” jazzmaster off craigslist a few weeks back the serial number starts w/ an E and has 6 digits. I’ve done a little research and from what I’ve found, it was supposedly made between 84 and 87′. I haven’t found any info on jazzmasters from this period making me believe it was possibly made later? Anyone out there have any idea?

I just found the cure! For what? Those damnable Jazzmaster bridges that plague us with strings jumping out of threaded saddles, buzzing strings that sometimes contact intonation screws.
The cure is called the Mastery Bridge and it eliminates the above mentioned problems. Period. Furthermore it retains and enhances all the qualities of the Jazzmaster that we fell in love with in the first place. No more compromising.
Check out the website at http://www.masterybridge.com.
    You WON’T be sorry!

I love this site. I’ve been visiting for years, and it lead to me picking up a CIJ Jazzmaster, and later.. I was gifted a fabulous Jaguar to go alongside it. I’m still not a master when it comes to tweaking/fixing these things, but without this site, I would be in deep trouble :D

Thanks for all your hard work Tom.
